The South Bay Sunsets is a competitive Synchronized Skating organization with teams representing The Skating Edge and The South Bay Figure Skating Club. Divisions are determined each year and are dependent upon the ages and skating levels of the participants. Skaters from the age of 9 through adult are encouraged to join our sessions.

Most skaters join the team to have fun, but many find that skating on a team can be one of the most exciting, challenging, and rewarding experiences of a skater's career. The team work and dedication that goes into preparing for and traveling to synchronized skating competitions provides an excellent opportunity for athletes to develop life-long skills and memories. As one of the fastest growing areas of U.S. figure skating, "Synchro" skating provides opportunities for more College athletes than ever before.

Synchronized Team Skating is a fast-paced, high -speed sport that requires intricate footwork, and the reliance on each team member to produce, in unison, a cohesive, beautifully orchestrated yet complex program. In the last 20 years, Synchronized Team Skating (formerly known as Precision skating) has emerged as an exciting, dramatic form of the sport of figure skating. According to the United States Figure Skating Association, it is "the hottest form" of skating today, with teams of 12 -24 skaters (ages 8 years to adult) of all levels developing in 450 clubs across America.

We currently field two teams:a nationally competitive Intermediate team and a non-competitive Open Juvenile team. If you are interested in joining one of the South Bay Sunset synchro teams please come to our Synchro Skills workshops and our try-outs.

The South Bay Sunsets train at the Skating Edge Ice Arena in Harbor City as well as the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo.
